bulletCollared shank with flat double edge blade.  Unusual S-shaped mortise slot.  Markings on the inside of the socket arm ('U' and '3').  Patina overall (never been cleaned).  No scabbard.  Very rare.

bulletNo maker.  Horn handles with brass finale, crossguard with acorn finales, and clamshell.  Very nice slab blade with light staining, peppering and light sharpening.  No scabbard.  Overall length is 381mm with a blade length of 254mm with a false edge length about 152mm.  Very rare.

bulletUnusual in that it has a diagonal spiral mortise slot opening (similar to the early Austrian socket bayonets).  Proof mark on flat part of blade and marked on the flat of the blade 'ILB 2LB.7'.  Regimentally marked '15.R.6.8' on the arm.  Marked 'E' on the end of the socket opening.  Patina overall (never cleaned).  No scabbard.  Very scarce

bulletMade by VCS, Suhl (Schilling).  Has brass handle with wood grips held by three brass pins.  German proof marked on the crossguard.  Very nice blade with no sharpening.  Leather scabbard with brass fittings with top fitting marked '1222'.  Only 5,000 were made.  Very rare.

bulletNo maker and has inspection marking 'D' stamped on the crossguard.  Has brass handle with circular grooves and circles on the ends of the crossguard.  Very nice slab blade with some light sharpening.  Leather scabbard with brass fittings and missing stitches along the back.  This piece had matching numbers for Schleswig Holstein on the crossguard and scabbard top fitting 'S.H.I.C.128'.  Very rare.

bulletnew-sign.gif (938 bytes)  Looks exactly like the standard Prussian 1871 Foot Artillery bayonet but is made in Saxony for the Foot Artillery.  Made by Simson and Co, Suhl and is dated 1897 ('AR' over 1897).  Very nice brass handle with some patina with crossguard marked '12.R.A.F.5.24'.  Leather scabbard with no regimental markings and all stitches intact.  Very rare.

bulletNo maker or date.  Dark wood grips with staining and patina on the handle with German inspection markings on the pommel.  Dark sawback blade with staining and rounded tip with no sharpening.  Leather scabbard with brass fittings with stitches intact marked '53.R.R.6.198'.  Brown WW1 leather frog with missing stitches along about 1" on left side from top rivet.  Needs a good cleaning.  Rare modification of the 1869 Werder bayonet for the Gewehr 98 rifle.  I only have seen one of these bayonets for sale over the past 25 years of collecting.

bulletUnusual ersatz model made by using ersatz handle (Carter's #14) and sawback blade from a German 1871 bayonet (made by Gebr. Weyersberg dated 1875 for Prussia) which then had the blade shortened to about 10.5" and had the sawback removed (possibly by the Turks).  Crossguard is marked '1.P.B.4.18'.  Blade has staining, pitting and sharpening.  Metal scabbard with about 90% green paint remaining and has two decals on the front.  Very unusual ersatz.

bulletBrand new, never issued in original bag with instruction booklet.  Excellent plastic grips and handle with plastic capsule in handle.  Excellent wire-cutter blade and black plastic scabbard with attached belt attachment.  There were only 2000 of these bayonets produced.  Very rare bayonet in un-issued condition.

The pommel unscrews and reveals a small plastic capsule - inside capsule is one each 3mm, 4mm, 4.5 mm and 5 mm diameter split lead shot weights, two 10 mm long fish hooks, two 15 mm long fish hooks, two red over green flare matches, one green over red tip flare match, three iodine water purification tablets, two 40 mm long straight sewing needles and one sterile suture kit. The lid of the capsule contains a plastic magnifying lens and under a round leather plug in pommel there is monofilament fishing line. The blade itself has a protractor on one side and 5 cm scale on the other. The belt loop contains a piece of polished steel signaling mirror. It also comes with a small instruction booklet.

bulletMade during the Weimar period by modifying a WWI butcher bayonet.  The PSS (Polizeiseitengewehr Sonderausfuhrung) bayonet blade was narrowed to a straight blade, the grip were replaced with stag and the police eagle was affixed to the grips.  The pommel and crossguard were engraved with fancy floral designs.  Made by Deutsche Maschinenfabrik A.G., Duisburg with dates and inspection marks removed.  Excellent stag grips with police insigina and nickel finish on the handle.  Excellent blade with no sharpening.  Excellent heavily blued metal scabbard.  Extremely rare police bayonet in excellent condition.

bulletThis is a standard French Chassepot bayonet (with no modifications to the bayonet itself) except that bayonet is German regimentally marked and the scabbard has been German modified by adding a long elongated frog stud.  Very nice brass handle which is marked '24' near the press stud and the crossguard is marked '87.L.I.2.218' and is marked '22' on the other side of the crossguard.  Very nice blade made by Mutzig and is dated 1869 with no sharpening.  Nice metal scabbard with German modified frog stud and was finished bright with some staining.
