bulletLong socket bayonet that is 787mm overall and has a 673mm blade.  No markings.  Blade is triple engraved and has some graying and no sharpening.  On the right side is engraved 'an den 13.14.15. Marz 1848'.  Left side of blade is engraved 'Erinnerung'.  Rare and unusual piece.

Weyersberg (G.WB.) and dated 1862 on the blade ricasso and bottom of quillion.  Nice brass handle with some patina.  Handle marked '1128'.  Matching numbers '36.R.E.3.215'.  Blade has staining, peppering and light sharpening.  Leather scabbard with all stitches intact and is missing lower fitting.

bulletMade by V. Jung and dated 1870.  Nice brass handle numbered '3263' and crossguard marked '1.T.2.17' (T is in script).  Light staining and sharpening on the sawback blade.  Very nice leather scabbard with all stitches intact and marked '20.P.3.178'.  Very rare 1865 model.

German 1871 Bavarian Faschinenmesser Sawback Bayonet (like Ref1,No.4,page77, Ref3,ABC876,page249)  

 

Rarity: R3+/4
bulletRare Bavarian model with about 4" of false edge on the bottom of the blade.  Made by Gebr. Simson with no date on spine (only GS).  Very nice brass handle with crossguard marked 'B.B.T.III.32'.  Staining on the sawback blade with no sharpening.  Prussian leather scabbard marked 'A.T.A.1.166' with about 90mm of stitches missing in the middle of the scabbard.  Very rare Bavarian model.

bulletnew-sign.gif (938 bytes)  Made by Schilling and dated 1888 for Prussia.  Very nice wood grips with patina on the handle.  Short fullered blade with staining and no sharpening.  Crossguard marked 'T.S.4.195'.  Leather scabbard with stitches separated along length.  Scarce unusual regiment matching set.

bulletnew-sign.gif (938 bytes)  Made by Weyersberg & Stamm and dated 1881.  Brass handle has some peppeing on the leaf spring and crossguard.  Crossguard is marked '1.R.R.10.7' and '55110' on the other side.  Sawback blade has heavy pitting and sharpening.  Prussian leather scabbard marked '148.R.5.208' with a crease and all stitches intact.  Only 4,000 were ever made.  Very rare model.

German 1884/98 - 1st Pattern Bayonet (Ref1,No.1,page81, Ref3,ABC269/270,page191)

bulletnew-sign.gif (938 bytes)  Made by Erfurt and Coppel and dated 1885 for Prussia. This was originally a very rare 1871/84 experimental bayonet with the leaf spring that was converted to a 1st pattern 1884/98.  Nice wood grips and finish on the handle.  Crossguard marked '1.R.6.128'.  Short fullered blade has staining, light sharpening and couple of dings along the blade and a rounded tip.  Leather scabbard missing inside throat/spring.  Very rare dated model.

bulletnew-sign.gif (938 bytes)  Made by Erfurt and dated 1910.  Nice leather grips held by 3 rivets.  Matching numbers 'K.S.995' on the crossguard and scabbard.  Very nice sawback blade with light staining and light field sharpening.  Metal scabbard with no finish remaining.  Comes with homemade display plaque with description of the bayonet on the back.  Very nice matching piece with display plaque.

bulletnew-sign.gif (938 bytes)  2nd pattern, made by Luneschloss and dated 1906 for Prussia.  Nice wood grips with light patina on the handle.  Matching numbers on the end of pommel and scabbard frog stud '8166' (probably used by Czechoslovakia).  Nice sawback blade has light sharpening and a rounded tip.  Very nice metal scabbard with about 20% black paint remaining.  Very nice matching set.

bulletMaker on the bayonet has been removed and is dated 1917.  Press stud, mortise catch and blade tip were removed.  Light staining on the blade.  Black metal scabbard with the throat removed and 4 notches cut into the side to hold the wood for splitting.  Very rare after war use of these butcher bayonets.

Frog has old repair around frog stud opening.  Scarce to find regimentally marked.
