The First World War -
A complete history by Martin Gilbert. Copyrighted
and printed in 1994. The First World War shaped the modern
world we still live in. It began with the assassination of the heir
to the Austro-Hungarian throne by a Bosnian Serb. Over the next five
years the world saw the introduction of the tank, the ship convoy,
submarine warfare, aerial bombardment, and mustard gas. By the time
it was over, the map of Europe was forever changed and a generation
of young men had been decimated. The author, a distinguished
historian and biographer, covers the entire length of the war.
Hard cover with 864 pages. There are 100 halftone illustrations and
50 maps. Book dust cover has been repaired on the front
binding. See photos for table of

Die Luftwaffe - Die
Geschichte der deutschen Luftwaffe im Zweiten Weltkrieg by John Pimlott.
Copyrighted and printed in 1998. German version (all text in
German). The Air Force played a
substantial role at the beginning of the Second World War in
Hitler's blitzkrieg strategy. The initial successes, with those it
particularly in the campaigns against Poland and Russia the opposing
air fleet at the ground to mostly already destroy knew and thus the
air rule conquered, is not however not about the fact to mislead
that it was only insufficiently prepared for a longer persisting
fight. This weakness became already with undertaking eagle, the air
war against England, obviously. With continuation of the war also
the armament of the allied ones ran on full speed, in particular
Englishmen and Americans destroyed in increasing extent German
industrial plants and cities. Hard
